NARA Archaeological Research Centre 2023 Recruitment Symposium successfully held at the School of History

On the morning of March 9, 2023, the 2023 Recruitment Seminar of the Archaeological Research Centre of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage was held in the Damei Building of the School of History. The seminar invited Wang Damin, Deputy Director of the Archaeological Research Centre of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, as guest speaker, Zhao Qing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of History, Zhang Sheng, Dean, Ren Lingling, Deputy Secretary, Liu Xinglin, Zhang Liangren, Wang Xiaoqi, Zhang Jinglei, Zhao Xinyu, Ma Chunmei of the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences, and our postgraduate students attended the meeting.

First of all, Zhao Qing, secretary of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage Archaeological Research Centre Wang Damin, deputy director of the arrival of a warm welcome, and the overall development and construction of the College was introduced.

Mr. Liu Xinglin introduced the training of high-level PhD candidates in the fields of underwater archaeology, cave temple and religious archaeology, technological archaeology, frontier archaeology, foreign archaeology, Palaeolithic archaeology, archaeological theory, heritage conservation and management, as well as the cooperation with the Archaeological Research Centre of the State Administration of Cultural Relics since NTU was selected as a special project of the Ministry of Education for the training of national urgent high-level talents in archaeology.

Ren Lingling, deputy secretary of the Department of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage of the College of History, introduced the enrollment, graduation and employment situation of the various majors.

Afterwards, Wang Damin gave a detailed introduction to the Archaeological Research Centre of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage from various aspects such as the history of the institution, its staffing, focus of work, salary and remuneration, research conditions, unit culture and incentive mechanism. In his presentation, he emphasised the importance of differentiated development and multidisciplinary cooperation in the work of the Centre, providing a quality development platform and a humane working atmosphere for young scholars.

After the presentation, students and teachers asked questions about application requirements, research directions, induction and training, and salary and other details. Deputy Director Wang Damin responded to the students' questions and said that he "looks forward to welcoming students from Nanjing University to the Archaeology Centre".

Finally, Dean Zhang Sheng summarized the meeting. He expressed his gratitude to the Archaeological Research Centre of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage for its recognition of the training of our students and for the professional guidance and career opportunities provided to our postgraduates, and called on them to actively apply for the positions of their choice, to combine their own volunteerism with the cause of socialist archaeology with Chinese characteristics, and to contribute to the telling of the Chinese story.
